Writer's Block: Gone with the wind

I believe handwriting lessons will no longer be taught to children in school, if not in the next decade, than definitely in my lifetime. Your average child is quite adept at using the computer before they even start school. Your average college student takes notes no longer in a beaten spiral notebook, but on a laptop they drag from class to class.
Think about the last time you needed to write something down that wasn't a signature verification for purchasing an item. Even that requires no real writing. I've verified purchases by drawing a scribble the cashier barely looked at before finishing my transaction.
Sure people still jot down notes on bits of paper, but with everyone and their flying squirrel carrying an iPhone with the note jotting application, there is no need for notes scribbled on bits of paper anymore. You don't even need to write on the tablet. Just pay $1.99 for the handwriting font and give your typing a more personal look.
With the green movement becoming so popular, I can see there being pressure to stop writing on paper, or incentives given for going all electronic in your day to day dealings.
I believe cheques will no longer be offered when you open a checking account. Bill payments are available online, just a quick click here and here and money is transferred from your banking account, or PayPal account, to your landlord's, utility's, or student loan company's accounts.
Purchases in brick and mortar stores are made with a credit or debit card. Just a quick swipe and you are done.
Especially in this day and age, people want the most for their time, and writing out a cheque takes too much time for your average person nowadays.
Last, I believe privacy will become obsolete. With the advent of mobile phones, social networking sites, and everyone "needing" to be plugged into the system, it's harder to not know what is going on in someone's life. People like their information, and they like it fast.
Gone are the days of people beginning to worry if they haven't heard from you in a week or two. Now, panic spreads when someone doesn't update their Facebook status every couple of minutes. If you don't retweet, reply to a Facebook status, tumble it, or leave a comment, then comes the wave of phone calls, instant messages and emails to see if you are alright.
