Three Things
Jul. 26th, 2010 11:46 am1.) My golden birthday is in five days. I will be turning 31 on the 31st in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. (Harry Potter and I share the same birthday.) Themed birthday is themed.
I am rather excited about this. We booked a three star hotel room for a 1/2 star price thanks to hotwire dot com.
I was a little worried. Hotwire's schtick is to tell you the price and general location and star rating of the hotel, but not the name of said hotel. The price was too good to pass up. It was less than your typical flea bag motel located 10 miles away.
Luck was a lady and we ended up booking one of my top five hotel choices. Less than half a mile away from Islands of Adventure. Also, at a 75% discount over the hotel's regular price. Score!
2.) I'm in the middle of crocheting up an amigurumi Teal Deer. This amuses me more than it should. Yes, it is in reference to the internet term, TL;DR, "Too Long; Didn't Read". (This phrase is used as a response to posts that are very word heavy. Eventually, people started speaking the abbreviation phonetically, which sounds like "teal deer". You can now find many illustrations and gifs of teal coloured deer that people use as a response to not reading what was posted.
I will post pictures once I am finished. I am going to make an image of him to use in response to posts on ONTD that are word heavy.
I'm trying to take teal deer to the next level. I want to carry him around, probably during convention season, and when I get cornered into a one sided conversation, whip him out to let the other party know that talk to me as much as they like about the subject they are passionate about, I won't be paying attention.
3.)Picked up a VHS copy of Red Dawn at Goodwill Thrift Store yesterday for one dollar. It was very hot, so I had to carry it around for the rest of the day while Jonathan and I ran errands and whatnot. (Didn't want it to melt in the car.)
I looked very bizarre, carrying a 1990 VHS copy of Red Dawn into the movie theatre, the grocery store and hardware store. Like some totem item to ward off evil.
I had to suppress the urge to shout out "WOLVERINES" and wave the vhs tape around like a crazed preacher whenever I made eye contact with someone obviously wondering why I was carrying around an old copy of Red Dawn.
