(Quite a coincidence that this would be the opening paragraph to the New York Times Week in Review article published yesterday. Right before Skip's Kalamar game began, the question was brought up as to who said this quote.)

What's for dinner?

Dining out is one of those luxuries that, unfortunately, can be rationalized as a necessity. Growing up, dining out or ordering in dinner was a treat reserved for special occasions. I blame college living for warping my view of dinner.

The average American spends between $300 to $700 a month on dining out for dinner alone. I am on a mission to turn dining out and ordering in meals back into a luxury for Jonathan and myself. Our bank accounts will be plumper. Our waistlines will become smaller since our homecooked meals border on hyper healthy. I will have an excuse to read recipe books in public!

With an arsenal of over 30 cook and recipe books and a love of cooking, I think we will be fine and not lamenting the cut in non homecooked meals.

(We are realistic and not completely eliminating dining out.)

Thursday Date Dinner: (Every Thursday Jonathan and I go to a tasty cheap local restaurant to discuss wedding plans, check in with how we are doing, and just talk and enjoy each other's company. It's nice having a guaranteed time each week to see each other. I think we will continue the tradition after the wedding.)
