Up until a few days ago, I had never heard of the game of Disc Golf. Now, I play it.
-----------------------------------
What is Disc Golf?
Think of Golf played using Frisbees, Frisbee Golf. Only Frisbee is a registered trademark so the game has to be called Disc Golf.Professional Disc Golf Association websitehttp://www.pdga.org/Wikipedia Definition of Disc Golfhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_golfDiscLife website Definitionhttp://www.disclife.com/whatis.shtml----------------------------------------------
Why are you playing Disc Golf?
1. It's fun
2.It's an easy way to exercise, especially my upper arms and torso.
3. There are two courses in town. Two out of 1500 courses in the United States!
4. I'm part hippie, and being part hippie am required to engage in an activity that either involves a frisbee, a hacky sack, or nag champa.
5.I invested $20 in a driver and a chipper disc.
6.Hurling a disc as hard as you can at a target is a great way to relieve stress.-------------------------------------------------
Jonathan and I hit the course for the first time this afternoon. We didn't play for points, seeing as we are newbies. We played nine holes, about an hour of game time, before calling it a day. I forgot that Jonathan had never played before and our conversation went a little something like this:
Me: Okay, am I suppose to stand here or here and do this or this?
Jonathan: I don't know, I've never played before.
Me: Oh. Right.
And then there were the times when Jonathan thought I was hustling him.
Jonathan: Try holding it at such and such angle and throwing it at this degree.
Me: Like this? ::throws chipper disc. makes sweet shot in goal::
Jonathan: Are you hustling me? You are!
Me: Yep, that's me, I'm a pro. I actually brought Disc Golf to this town.
